“Like if her adorable quirkiness was the equivalent of a puppy playing with a kitten, this act was now a puppy pushing a kitten down a slide made of rainbows, while a mini-pony sat on a nearby stump playing an acoustic version of Feist’s “1-2-3-4”. Batshit adorable quirky.”

Want to work with the atom smasher in one of the best cities in the world?!

September 10, 2008 at 11:40 am (technology) (, , )

Then check out the Staff Employment Opportunities at CERN, home of the Large Hadron Collider, which fired its first beam today.

According to wired.com, it is the “biggest, most expensive scientific instrument in history” that will, amongst other things, “change our fundamental understanding of the universe”.

The atom smasher goes live hot on the heels of a report of the World’s Best Places to Live where Switzerland scored 3 of the top 9 cities in the world.

Munich is also up there, tied in 7th place with Frankfurt, which happens to be the home of my friend Allan, who I’ve visited several times since he moved there about ten years ago. It is a pretty cool town, home of the Oktoberfest, Paulaner, BMW, Hofbrau, Siemens, Microsoft’s European HQ – it’s near Salzburg, the Alps, many castles, beautiful architecture, and so much history.

Including the 2002 World Cup Qualifier. Ahem, 5-1.
