Five reasons I hated the Foo Fighters show last night.

So I saw the Foo’s several times back home, twice at the Astoria (a 2,000 capacity London venue), from the side of the stage at Reading Festival, at an Arena in Amsterdam. All shows were fun and I loved seeing two of my drumming heroes on the same stage. Last night, however, I saw them at the Portland Rose Garden and left feeling tawdry, a well of disappointment in my breast.

  1. “My Hero” acoustically? When it has the best drum part of any of the Foo’s songs? I’ll never understand.
  2. “Here we go!” screamed at intervals
  3. Visuals. Get a professional (with taste) to do them. It’s really not like you can’t afford it…
  4. Not their fault, but kids born after Bleach was released, jumping around, moshing. Wasn’t it past their bedtime?
  5. Blues jam. Enough said.
